Hello. My name is Jonah Owen. I grew up in Eugene, Oregon and started snowboarding when I was 15 years old. I would drive 2 1/2 hours to Mt. Bachelor every weekend rain or shine. Snowboarding quickly became my life. It was all I wanted to do. As soon as I turned 18 years old and graduated high school I was off to Salt Lake City, Utah to film a snowboard video with 4 of my best friends. That year was a real eye opener. We all struggled keeping jobs because we all use to bail on work to go film and shred, so the name of the video was dubbed “Sick Days” by Gary Tyler Mcleod. Since then I have filmed a video part every winter and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I now reside in Bend, OR and ride Mt.Bachelor with the same friends I moved to Utah with back in 2005 when I’m not traveling.
In 2011, in order to expand and broaden my scope and focus of riding, I resigned from Technine after a four year run of filming with F.O.D.T. I recently signed with Rome Snowboards and look forward to the upcoming season working with them. My other sponsors include Electric, Crooks & Castles and Exit Boardshop.
Along with rails and architectural features, more big air, slopestyle, back country filming and comps are in my radar. I would like to do more competing in the next season as well as film and travel, promoting the sport and my sponsors in whatever way possible. I hope to continue to inspire others in the sport of snowboarding and be a good role model for younger riders.
